Multifocal/Deluxe IOL's (Lens Implants) Tecnis/Restor/ReZoom/Crystalens

Our newest multifocal IOL'S give you a much needed solution to near, intermediate, and distance vision. They include the TecnisCrystalens, ReStor, and ReZoom IOL's.Vision changes with age. People become presbyopic around the age of 40, and begin wearing reading glasses. Later in life - our natural lenses mature into cataracts. These deluxe lenses help you regain the vision you had in your 20's by providing excellent vision - at all distances.

Patients may choose to have these advanced lenses implanted when they undergo Cataract or Prelex surgery. Unlike traditional single-vision lens implants, these multifocal lenses provides quality vision both at a distance and up close. Traditional lenses usually provide good vision only at a distance with limited ability to see objects that are near without glasses. The multifocal lenses have uniquely proportioned visual zones that provide it with its major advantage.

Frequently Asked Questions about this procedure:

Q: Will I still wear glasses if I have this procedure?

A: The results will vary depending upon your vision, lifestyle and the anatomy of your eyes. Some people may need glasses to read small type or drive at night. Most patients however, can go to the store or conduct many of their day's activities without depending on glasses.

Q: Are these lens procedures (cataract or prelex) safe?

A: The natural lens inside the eye is gently removed through a small micro-incision in the periphery of your eye's cornea. The cataract-impaired lens is then removed through this incision and the lens implant is inserted in its place to permanently replace it. The procedure usually takes about 15 to 45 minutes and vision is usually improved immediately.

Every surgical procedure has risks and potential side effects. Our physicians will explain these to you at your evaluation. However, the lens removal and lens implant technique is performed over 15 million times annually worldwide, and is recognized for its safety.

Q: Am I a candidate for the Multifocal lens?

A: If you've been diagnosed with cataracts or have been dealing with presbyopia for a while - you may be a candidate for these advanced IOL's.  Whether one of these lenses is the right choice for you depends on your personal preferences, lifestyle, and the overall health of your eyes. Your doctor will make a recommendation following your evaluation.
